1. What are fillers?

Fillers comprise a variety of inject able substances that are used to “fill-in” lines and wrinkles to restore volume to facial structures.  Recently there have been significant advances in these products and in the techniques used to administer them.  Dr. Grodberg is an experienced and expert injector, known for her keen aesthetic eye and skill at achieving a natural looking result and minimizing untoward side effects.

2. What is the difference between fillers?

Fillers are categorized by the nature of the substance used as filler which in turn dictates the look, feel, onset of action and longevity of the filler.  Some examples of popular categories of fillers include Collagen,  Hyaluronic Acid (Juvederm®, Restylane®, Perlane®), Calcium Hydroxyapatite (Radiesse®), and Poly-L-Lactic Acid (Sculptra®).

3. How do I know which filler is best for me?

During your consultation, Dr. Grodberg will discuss the different options available and will make recommendations based on her assessment of your needs and priorities.  There are many factors to be considered for this recommendation such as the nature of the correction, the longevity desired and consideration of both benefits and limitations of the different products available.

4. How should I prepare for the treatment?

No special preparation is required other than avoiding intake of products that may increase your susceptibility to bruising such as Aspirin, Advil, Motrin, Vitamin E and certain supplements.  Make sure to check with Dr. Grodberg if you have questions about any medications or supplements you take regularly.  Usually a topical anesthetic is applied to the skin prior to treatment so you may be asked to arrive in advance of your scheduled appointment so that the aesthetic can be applied.
